Ameon, a building-services engineering company based in Blackpool, is one of around a hundred companies in the region to be included in the inaugural ‘1000 companies to inspire Britain’ list compiled by the London Stock Exchange. The list highlights those companies spearheading the UK’s economic recovery. Judging criteria included revenue growth in three of the past four years, increases in number of employees, expansion of premises and sophisticated analysis of on-line activities and positive media mentions relating to business dynamism and growth.

Ameon relocated and expanded at the start of the recession in 2009 when other companies were cutting back. Turnover is nearly £30 million. The company continued to invest heavily in training and staff development during the period and has expanded its service offering in renewable technologies and low-carbon consultancy.

Managing director Robin Lawson comments, ‘We’ve worked tirelessly over the past few years to maintain a strong market position during what has been a very challenging period for all those involved in construction and allied industries, but I never expected to be included in the list of “1000 companies to inspire Britain”.’

Current high-profile contracts include Blackpool’s Talbot Gateway develop and Manchester’s First Street regeneration.
