Building-services-engineering specialist Ameon is well on the way to achieving its £35 million turnover target by the end of the summer following a new £5 million contract at Lancaster University and a contract of similar value in Manchester city centre. In five years, the business has doubled in turnover and has achieved constant growth during the recession, despite the squeeze on margins in the construction sector.
At Lancaster University, Ameon will work through main contractor Eric Wright Construction on the design and installation of high-specification services for the new engineering building. This contract brings the value of Ameon’s work on the campus in recent months to £7 million.
Other recent gains include a £6.5 million contract on Building 101 of Manchester’s Embankment development.
Managing director Robin Lawson said, ‘It appears that confidence in the economy is being restored, and, as a consequence, investment in new developments seems to be on the increase. This bodes well for Ameon going forward because, as a result of our continued investment in our own business throughout the UK’s lean years, we now have the capacity to take on even larger and more diverse projects as the economy grows.’
