It’s official! Ameon has achieved certified installer/contractor status under the Fire Accreditation Scheme (FIRAS), thereby enabling the company to design and install fire-rated ducting, and now also self-certify its own installations.
FIRAS is a national, voluntary, third party certification scheme for contractors of both passive and active fire protection systems and is accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). The scheme allows contractors, such as Ameon, to certify their own work, and that of other installers.
Additionally, the attainment of the FIRAS standard will enable Ameon to manufacture its own fire-rated ductwork at its Blackpool facility.
Contract director, Rod Bunce, believes that the company’s FIRAS certification adds another dimension to Ameon’s range of competences. He comments: “Being FIRAS accredited means having greater control over our fire-rated infrastructure, and it negates the need to bring in external organisations to determine that our installations are compliant, which means swifter commissioning on client contracts.
“It signals the evolution of Ameon’s service provision and the organisation’s expanding skills base, which can only be even more encouraging for those in the construction sector considering working with us.”
