People Are The Heart of Our Business
At Ameon, our values are built on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We place people at the heart of our business and believe that by supporting one another through a strong culture of care and responsibility, including our carbon-neutral approach to working, we all succeed.
For A Fairer Society
We believe in helping to create a fairer society and in leaving things in a better place than we found them, supporting communities to foster growth and long-term success. By working collaboratively to drive positive impacts across all projects we deliver — socially, environmentally and economically — social value remains a core part of our ethos, supported by our carbon-neutral approach to delivery.
We understand the importance of delivering not only high-quality construction services, but also positive, lasting social value within the communities where we work. As a committed SME in the construction industry, we embed social value into our operations in alignment with the UK Government’s Social Value Model and the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.
We recognise that our operations can contribute to broader social, economic and environmental wellbeing, and our social value strategy therefore focuses on:
-
Supporting local communities
-
Creating local employment and skills opportunities
-
Reducing environmental impact through responsible, carbon-neutral practices
-
Promoting ethical and inclusive business practices
-
Supporting the voluntary and community sector
Local Employment & Skills
- Commit to hiring locally wherever possible. Ensure recruitment and employment policies are inclusive and non-discriminatory, and proactively seek opportunities to support underrepresented groups in construction, including women, people with disabilities and minority communities, aligned with responsible, carbon-neutral working practices.
- Offer apprenticeships and work experience placements for local individuals.
Provide training, professional development and upskilling opportunities for existing employees.
We tailor our social value activities to reflect Local Authority and community priorities, ensuring initiatives respond directly to identified local needs, including:
-
Youth employment, particularly within disadvantaged areas
-
Green initiatives aligned with local climate goals and a carbon-neutral approach
-
Strengthening local economies following the impacts of COVID
-
Waste management, diverting site waste from landfill through responsible disposal and recycling
-
Sustainable practices, including the use of sustainably sourced materials, low-carbon products and energy-efficient equipment where feasible
-
Carbon reduction, promoting low-emission transport methods for site workers and reducing plant and vehicle idling
Community Engagement & Regeneration
- Support local Community Projects with time and resources to support minor building improvements for local community groups, schools, or
- Donation of Surplus Materials: Provide leftover construction materials to community projects or charities for reuse.
Supporting local Supply Chains
- Source building materials or subcontractors from SMEs or suppliers based locally
- Promote fair and prompt payment terms to local subcontractors and trades
Monitoring and Reporting
To ensure transparency and effectiveness, we will:
- Track and measure social value outcomes
- Report progress to stakeholders using clear metrics (aligned with Social Value TOMs if required or any other reporting mechanism they may require)
- Continuously monitor and evaluate to improve performance
Ameon is fully committed to delivering measurable, meaningful social value alongside our core business services. We view social value not as a contractual obligation but as a key part of being a responsible and sustainable enterprise.
