Design & BIM

Two Different Approaches

Our in-house design team and CAD specialists deliver projects for clients in all major sectors.

Design

Our in-house Design Department forms a core part of our MEP Design & Build capability, providing fully coordinated mechanical, electrical and public health solutions across a wide range of sectors. Supported by a dedicated team of engineers, including mechanical, electrical, Revit specialists and degree apprentices, we deliver technically robust and commercially focused designs that support successful project outcomes from concept through to construction and handover.

We undertake design work across all major sectors, including education, commercial, residential, healthcare and retail. Our engineers bring extensive industry experience, ensuring designs are not only compliant and buildable, but also efficient, sustainable and aligned with clients’ operational requirements. This breadth of expertise allows us to add value early in the project lifecycle, reducing risk and supporting programme & cost certainty.

Compliance is embedded at the heart of our design process. Our team has a strong track record in meeting Building Regulations and BREEAM requirements, alongside demonstrable experience delivering projects under the Building Safety Act, including successfully completed Gateway 2 designs. Clients can be confident that our designs are innovative, efficient and fully aligned with current legislation and best practice.

BIM

Traditional 2D CAD systems replicate paper-based drawing processes, producing disconnected linework, text and annotations. Design changes must be manually coordinated across multiple drawings, increasing the risk of errors and inefficiency. Building Information Modelling (BIM) takes a fundamentally different approach, developing buildings as coordinated digital models with intelligent, data-rich elements. These combine graphical and non-graphical information to support informed decision-making throughout the project
lifecycle.

At Ameon, we deliver projects in accordance with ISO 19650 Parts 1 and 2 and the UK BIM Framework (formerly referred to as BIM Level 2). Information is developed, shared and managed within a structured Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring project data is controlled, traceable and accessible to all stakeholders. We respond to project-specific Information Requirements, develop information to the agreed Level of Definition, and manage all data within the CDE.

We have successfully delivered information-managed digital design solutions across multiple sectors, supporting design development, construction coordination and the production of asset information suitable for operation and maintenance. Our experience enables us to provide coordinated, efficient and resilient design solutions that reduce risk, improve productivity, and support sustainable, low-carbon outcomes.
