Former AKS Lytham sixth form student, Aton Salem, 18, is another of Ameon’s 2024 intake on the company’s acclaimed Degree Apprenticeship Programme.

Prior to joining AKS sixth form, Aton – or ‘Atty,’ as he prefers to be known – of Thornton, had attended Millfield School, before completing his last year of GCSE study several thousand miles away at the international school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where his mother, Lee-Anna, had secured a two-year teaching post.

What could have been disruption to his GCSE studies proved to be quite the opposite, with Atty gaining 6 ‘A*’ and 2 ‘A’ pass grades across all subjects taken.  He followed up with high A-level grades at AKS in maths, further maths and physics – the perfect base for his degree apprenticeship aspirations, which were shaped during an AKS school visit to Ameon earlier this year.

Atty will be a welcome addition to the team as he takes on the five-year study programme for the BEng degree, through the University of Central Lancashire.
