A new build extension to the existing City Centre campus, providing an additional 6,000m2 of teaching space. The Manchester College – City Campus development comprised the construction of a major new educational facility incorporating specialist teaching spaces, workshops, laboratories, staff facilities and ancillary accommodation over multiple floors. Ameon delivered the complete mechanical, electrical and public health services installation for Phase 2 of the development, providing low-carbon heating and domestic hot water generation, high-efficiency ventilation and cooling systems, specialist engineering services for teaching environments, comprehensive life safety systems and fully integrated building management controls throughout the campus.

Project Delivery Highlights:
- Complete mechanical, electrical and public health services installation for Phase 2 of The Manchester College City Campus, delivering modern building services across specialist teaching, laboratory, workshop and administrative facilities.
- Installation of a high-efficiency domestic hot water system utilising roof-mounted CO₂ air source heat pumps feeding packaged plant room fresh water stations via plate heat exchangers, providing low-carbon instantaneous hot water generation.
- Comprehensive domestic cold water infrastructure including incoming mains, cold water storage, variable speed boosted water systems and dedicated CAT 5 booster sets serving specialist equipment and maintenance outlets.
- Mechanical ventilation strategy comprising roof-mounted air handling units, heat recovery, fan coil units and VRF heating and cooling systems providing comfortable internal environmental conditions across teaching spaces while maximising energy efficiency.
- Installation of specialist engineering systems including laboratory gas safety installations with Merlin gas proving systems, emergency isolation, CO₂ and methane detection, and integrated control of laboratory gas, water and electrical services.
- Delivery of specialist Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems serving woodworking machinery, dust extraction plant and ceramic kiln facilities, designed to safely remove airborne particulates and process fumes from vocational teaching environments.
- Integrated smoke ventilation strategy incorporating natural smoke shafts, automatic opening vents, smoke control dampers and addressable control systems to support the building’s fire engineering strategy.
- Complete electrical infrastructure including LV distribution, LED lighting, intelligent lighting controls, ICT infrastructure, security systems, fire alarm, access control, CCTV and disabled alarm systems throughout the campus.
- Fully integrated Building Management System providing central monitoring and control of mechanical plant, water services, ventilation systems, heat pumps, energy metering, laboratory safety systems and critical alarms to optimise operational performance and energy efficiency
