Ameon’s recently developed strategic partnership with Blackpool and The Fylde College is working to a tee, with the first in a programme of T-level placements providing a grounding in building services engineering for students who could well go on to forge careers in the construction industry.

Students will complete 340 hours structured work experience with Ameon, over the 2-year course duration, gaining valuable insight into all aspects of the company’s services and capabilities, from estimating and design, to contract management and construction of building services infrastructure.

The first T-level placement to spend time at Ameon’s Blackpool HQ is Ava Harrison, 19, from the Stanley Park area in the resort.  Ava is gaining valuable knowledge of the company’s design, estimating and contracting capabilities and is reflecting the growing interest from female students for careers within the construction sector.

Ameon construction director, Dave Scott sees the T-level programme and the strategic partnership with Blackpool and The Fylde College (B & FC) as a perfect opportunity to help develop further the engineering skills base in the area. He commented: “Having a formal partnership with the college for both T-levels and trade apprenticeships means that young people wishing to pursue construction and engineering careers can now benefit locally from training and skills acquisition from a company in the top tier of the building services infrastructure field.

“It also allows us to support the area’s aspiring young tradespeople and engineers and to identify the most talented individuals seeking a career pathway.

Dave Scott’s sentiments are echoed by B & FC’s T Level industry placement co-ordinator, Amy Steel: “Our design, surveying and planning T-level students at Blackpool and The Fylde College are thriving, thanks to the incredible support of employers like Ameon. Their commitment to offering high-quality placements is helping our students gain real-world skills and confidence, in preparation for careers in the industry.

“Ameon’s partnership with Blackpool and The Fylde College is critical, because together, we are ensuring that students are ready to fill the expanding skills gap within the construction industry.

“A huge thank you to Ameon for their dedication to the development of the next generation of talent.”
