A six-storey 100 bed extension to the existing student accommodation block at Kincardine Court, Manchester. Delivering additional student bedrooms together with communal facilities, plant areas, refuse and recycling facilities and associated landlord accommodation. Project Delivery Highlights:
- Delivered the complete mechanical, electrical and public health services installation for a new-build extension to an occupied Unite Students accommodation development.
- Integrated new building services with the existing student accommodation, maintaining continuity of essential services whilst expanding residential capacity.
- Installed a low-carbon domestic hot water system incorporating air source heat pumps, high-efficiency calorifiers and boosted cold water services to improve energy performance and reduce carbon emissions.
- Delivered a fully integrated potable water installation including cold water storage, duty/assist/standby booster sets, Category 5 washdown water systems and intelligent leak detection with automatic shut-off integrated into the Building Management System.
- Installed high-efficiency DX air conditioning systems and heat recovery ventilation units providing energy-efficient comfort and fresh air to communal and landlord areas, together with dedicated mechanical extract and smoke ventilation systems.
- Delivered comprehensive life safety systems including addressable fire alarm, smoke ventilation, residential sprinkler protection, dry risers, disabled refuge and disabled WC alarm systems, fully coordinated with the project fire strategy.
- Installed modern LED lighting throughout the development with PIR and presence detection controls, emergency lighting and intelligent lighting management to minimise operational energy consumption.
- Delivered resilient electrical infrastructure including landlord distribution, student accommodation distribution, small power, access control, CCTV, telecommunications and security systems throughout the development.
- Integrated all principal mechanical plant, water metering, leak detection and ventilation systems into the Building Management System for central monitoring, alarm management and efficient operation.
