Being able to study whilst learning on the job hit the right note for design engineer, Nathan Theaker, so much so that the hobby musician, who joined Ameon in 2018, has gained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree at UCLAN.
Nathan, 24, who lives in the Squires Gate area, revived his passion for learning at Ameon, having become disillusioned with college, which he believed provided ‘education in a vacuum.’ He preferred an environment where the theory could be put into practice on a daily basis in real life work situations and it seems that the part-time guitar, drums and keyboard player was perfectly attuned to his instincts, as he’s graduated recently with a 2:1.
The former Millfield School student, acquired his love for music at the school, where he studied until GCSE level. He moved to college briefly, but left at AS level before joining Ameon as a CAD technician. It was then that he discovered a passion for design, which design manager Dave Connor was happy to let him pursue through the degree route.
Dave’s decision proved to be a good one, as his department now boasts another fully qualified design engineer!
Well done Nathan!
